Post Pandemic Promises

During this pandemic, we’ve all had to change parts of our lives we took for granted and I’m no different. Here are a few things I will change when/if our lives ever get back to normal. As I have given up some of life’s most simple treasures to become lazy, I make a vow right here and right now to follow this simple plan for myself when this pandemic is under control:

1. I will not own a pair of sweat pants or blue jeans. I swear to NEVER wear blue jeans or sweat pants again. I will FOREVER, until my life ends, wear slacks, skirts, dresses, and lounge pants. I’m not giving up EVERYTHING.

2. I will wear some type of makeup every day while I’m not wearing sweat pants and blue jeans. Even if it’s to sit around the house. I will draw on my eyebrows freehanded if I have to, but I WILL look like I care about anything other than what sitcom I’m going to binge-watch on a Tuesday.

3. I will make sure my hair is neatly and carefully coiffed every single day. Because picking out this afro is frustrating sometimes. Especially when it’s not been moisturized for a few days (or weeks, but who’s counting).

4. I will not continue my obsession with making deodorant. I’m obsessed with making deodorant. I know that’s not something I talk about a lot, but I am. It’s both embarrassing and somehow intriguing to me that I can’t get the formula right.

5. I will hug everybody I know. I miss being hugged and hugging people.

6. I will kiss people I know. Not necessarily on the lips…..but not NOT necessarily on the lips.

7. I will keep my fingernails and toenails looking pretty. I will have a mani/Pedi every other week as well as a facial and other none painful experiences to enhance my person.

8. I will not clean my house as often as I do now. Mainly because I will hire a service to do that.

9. I will travel more. Anywhere.

10.  I will entertain a LOT at my place. And drink more classy drinks. And eat more classy food. Maybe.

I hope I will be able to start this list before the end of the year, but I seriously doubt it. People are still acting like this is a secret mission of the government to control people. I don’t get it, why would the government want to control people by telling them to wear masks?  I can rant on about that last statement for hours, but I won’t. It’s too stupid and time-consuming to even think about right now.

  1. I’m wearing blue jeans right now Cathy! I can’t wear them where I work except on Fridays. I earn 1995 hourly paraprofessional wage in 2021 working in a learning commons (library) as a Research Services Assistant (MLS preferred...which I have and would have preferred at least $18/hour instead of $12)
